ER...WHO ARE YOU?

Hey all, I'm the one in the pic - the one where I put shiny things in my hair because who doesn't like to do that from time to time? - and I'm the one currently writing the sci-fi trilogy. I'm also a freelance writer and in my spare time, I'm studying for a degree in Psychology which I find endlessly fascinating. My interests are reading and writing, history and I love nerdy things like superheroes, computer games and comic books.

I got into writing because it was something I've always used to take me out of my world and into a world where anything is possible. In the third Harry Potter movie, Dumbledore says "For in dreams we enter a world that is entirely our own" - well books were like dreams for me, and writing was like turning my dreams into someone's life.

I don't have twitter yet, but you can read my blog which includes some of my processes and just random bits of information that I find fun in the literary universe. You can find the link to my blog and also a contactable email address that I check daily on the Contact Me page of this website. I love to hear from people from all walks of life and find myself endlessly inspired by the people around me. Those are the real stories worth hearing and telling, so if you'd like to give me advice, information, or just have a chat about why you love books, stories and/or writing, feel free to drop me a line!

 MY WORK:

My idea for the sci-fi trilogy came about very recently when I attended the Sydney Supanova pop culture exhibition (it's like Australia's Comic-Con), and had the privilege of meeting Matthew Reilly and Australian author who's work I admire to no end. He talked about tips for budding authors and the one thing he said that really struck me was not to be afraid of getting your work published and being 'judged' which was always my biggest fear.

When you write only for yourself, you know no-one will ever see it, so if there is a chapter that isn't perfect or you haven't tied up certain loose ends, there's no drama. But to have something published means that members of the public (and the publishing industry itself) will make judgements on your passion and hobby. It's like someone coming along and telling you that you're terrible at the thing you love most, which is why the delay.

But now I'm ready, thanks to some choice words of encouragement from Mr Reilly, and I'm looking forward to finally getting my work out there for the world to see!
